| Ultra Sound and X-Ray |

To better meet the needs of our patients, we have an x-ray suite at our clinic. Our state of the art x-ray equipment can be used to evaluate injury or illness involving the chest, back, pelvis, extremities, abdomen and sinuses. Our providers will interpret and discuss the findings of your x-rays with you at the time of your visit. If warranted, a consultation with the radiologists at Gem State Radiology is also available.
Ultrasound is a medical imaging technology that uses high frequency sound waves to “see” internal body structures. While classically used in obstetrics, it can also be used in a variety of other ways. It is particularly good at imaging soft tissue structures that don’t show up on x-ray.
Ultrasound is useful in several areas of the body. It can visualize the gall bladder to look for gall stones. It can show the tendons of the rotator cuff of the shoulder. If you have small veins but need to have blood drawn, the ultrasound can locate the vein and actually guide the needle into the vein. This saves you from being “stuck” multiple times. Ultrasound can be helpful in finding small foreign bodies that don’t show up on x-ray. Ultrasound is frequently used to look for blood clots. These are only a few of many example of the utility of ultrasound examination.
Dr. Jonakin has a particular interest in ultrasound. He has received training from the Pacific Vascular Institute, Keith Mauny and Associates, and the Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography, of which he is a member. |
